About

Sophia

WORDS IN GREEK is run by Sophia Fileri, a professional with almost thirty years of diversified experience in the media and publishing industries, teaching, and the non-for-profit sector.

Sophia has worked as an editor, journalist, translator, publications manager and writer for major foundations, publishers, international organisations and NGOs in Greece, Cyprus and the UK. She has provided editorial services for companies and organisations with exacting publication standards; translated a variety of texts ranging from scholarly works to literature; and written dozens of articles for national newspapers and magazines, as well as scripts for radio programmes and news broadcasts.

When not putting words on paper, Sophia likes spending her time teaching. Over the years, she has taught English and Greek as foreign languages, working in various environments with students of different ages, nationalities and cultural backgrounds. She has also organised creative activities for children and taught life skills. Teaching is an exceptionally rewarding journey for her, as she enjoys being a source of positivity and encouragement, overcoming challenges and motivating her students to achieve their potential.
